East Balthangie is ideally situated for exploring Banff and Buchan. The site is located 600 feet above sea level, on a very gentle slope/flat area, facing southeast, so has the sun for most of the day. The site is bordered by trees on the northern side, giving shelter from the occasional breeze.
The area dedicated to caravans and tents totals approximately five acres, with picnic tables, electric hook up & water points, plus all the usual facilities expected at a traditional, but good site. The site tries to reinvent the 1950s feel, with no long lists of rules, regulations or annoying charges for ‘extras’. We cater for visitors who want a quiet peaceful site. Pets are very welcome, children under strict control :).
Because we are on the North Sea cycle route, we are ideally placed for a stop over when cycling in the area.
“Open all year round, it’s all about traditional outdoor holidays with fab farm views at East Balthangie Caravan Park, a site in rural Aberdeenshire where guests can settle down close to cracking coastal spots like the rugged coast of Banff and Buchan and the sandy beaches and dunes to the east. In fact, those bringing their bikes can get straight to the seaside pedalling, as there’s direct access to the scenic North Sea Cycle Route.
The folk here say that their aim is to recreate what outdoor hols were like in the 1950s, but with a few modern pleasures: as such, what you see is what you get, with the only additional charges being for extras like use of the machine in the laundry room. This is very much a ‘live and let live’ kind of place, where guests have plenty of room to pitch up in stunning Scottish surrounds and take in the peace and quiet.
The facilities here are traditional, but well maintained, including ladies’ and gents’ toilets, shower rooms with power showers and hairdryers, a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer, a communal kitchen with microwave, toasters and kettles, and site wide 29Mbps wifi. Dogs are welcome here, but please keep them on a lead except when in the dedicated large secure dog exercise area.
East Balthangie Caravan Park is well set up for outdoor living: picnic tables have been strategically placed in some of the best spots for alfresco lunches. Crop growth allowing, you’re also free to take strolls on the paths that criss-cross the adjacent farmland.
The nearest supermarkets are in Cuminestown (10 minutes’ drive), or New Deer (5 minutes drive). For a drink or pub-cooked meal, head into New Deer, or New Pitsligo. Our local Indian Restaurant also delivers to the site”
